TIFF Notes – An Evening On Top Of The City

Not long after the doors opened to the Thompson Hotel’s rooftop for IFP’s Celebration of Women in Film did something happen that shocked pretty much everyone – George Clooney. Yes, he walked into our party…for an entire two minutes. While he was en route to another swanky get-together in the building, we can still have the satisfaction of saying that Clooney stopped by, long enough for most of the ladies to swoon.

There was still plenty of star power at the Celebration of Women in Film party hosted by IFP (Independent Filmmaker Project) and Euphoria Calvin Klein. Actress Elisha Cuthbert and her Maple Leaf Captain boyfriend Dion Phaneuf, actresses Selma Blair and Chloe Moretz, singer Fefe Dobson, the band Arcade Fire and director Paul Haggis are just a few of the names who stopped by.

The Thompson’s rooftop provided the perfect place to host such a soiree. With the clear night sky, breathtaking view of the city and music provided by DJ Tony (from the Ellen DeGeneres show) the ambiance encapsulated everything that is TIFF.

 

TIFF Notes – The Murale Sally Hershberger Suite

After a whirlwind weekend of blowouts, mani’s, makeup and jewels, the Murale Sally Hershberger TIFF Suite has closed its doors – for this year. Every guest who walked through the suite emerged “red carpet ready” for whatever festival fetes they were attending.

Sally Hershberger and her entourage of talented hair technicians provided first-class blowouts, updo’s and styling to each guest that sat in their chairs. The team produced some of the best hair we have seen – from Mary Kitchen’s vivacious volume, to Dina Pugliese’s slicked back ponytail – it was amazing what they were able to do in a short period of time.

Murale Beauty Masters were also on-site, utilizing their tools and tricks to get the best makeup look for each face. From bold red lips, to subtle glowing skin they knew how to refresh and restore confidence in those walking the red carpet. Because, really, it doesn’t take much to look a little run down over these crazy TIFF days.

Manicurist Melissa Stormont from Tips Nail Bar in Toronto wowed everyone with her ability to create a perfect manicure within fifteen minutes . Her mini-mani’s were flawless and included the hottest nail trend right now, the half moon mani.

Once guests were all coiffed, made up and manicured, they had the opportunity to choose some baubles from lia sophia’s new boudika collection, as well as items from their Fall/ Winter 2011 Catalogue. Favourites included the Arrow Necklace, Pearl Short Bib Necklace and the Pearl Cluster Ring.
